Person Centered Therapy
Our Approach
Person-centred therapy (PCT), also known as client-centred counselling in an approach that explores our rationals/reason, thinking and thoughts around how we perceive ourselves consciously. In PCT the counsellor refrains from interpreting the persons unconscious thoughts or ideas instead focuses on real-time awareness examining the reasons for none helpful and/or distressing feelings.
How does it work?
PCT is a form of talking therapy, led by you, the client. There are goals with PCT and these can be set by the client but generally, these goals fall into one of the below categories or their relating sub-categories
These general goals are to:
- Facilitate personal growth and development
- Eliminate or mitigate feelings of distress
- Increase self-esteem and openness to experience
- Enhance the client’s understanding of themselves
